Greetings,

If you are planning to take the IELTS exam, the brief, the information below might provide some degree of perspective to you that might help you to make a better decision before you start preparing for the exam.

The IELTS exam is conducted for two levels: ACADEMIC IELTS, and GENERAL IELTS; these two exams are available as paper based exam, or IELTS computer based exam.

Academic IELTS:

In the Reading Section, you read three passages and answer 40 questions. The reading passages starts from relatively less changeling to the most challenging passage, respectively. The average score requirement for an Academic IELTS exam is band 6 to band 7 depending on the university of your choice. If you are a potential test taker, I will provide you with a free sample exam in order to evaluate your academic skills before accepting you as my IELTS student.

The Listening Section does need a great level of familiarity with the British accent, but otherwise does not involve complex academic skills. Even though most students face serious challenges in the listening section, but it is easy to develop a strong listening comprehension skills with some simple strategies and intense practice.

The Writing TASK 1 includes Statistical Graphs, Diagrams, and Maps. The graphs include Pie Chart, Line Chart, Bar Chart, Table, and the combination or paired version of any of the named charts.

In The writing task 2, you are present with an independent topic, and you need to present your conceptualization skills, richness of ideas or the philosophy that can best present your intellectual maturity, utilizing sentence structuring, grammar, and richness of vocabulary.

The Speaking Section tests your daily or descriptive spoken language, and it includes three sections: speaking task1, task 2, and task 3.

In Task 1 speaking, you are asked a few very basic daily life questions that is most likely relevant to your personal life.

In task 2 speaking section, you are presented with a card that notes a question and a breakdown of all the important points you need to speculate in your speech.

In task 3, you are again asked a few questions, but unlike task 1 questions, task 3 includes topics that concern the community, nation, human civilization as a whole, like economic or environment and so forth.

General IELTS:

General IELTS in many aspects is very much the same as with the Academic IELTS, except the task one writing, however, the reading, listening, speaking, and task two writing are almost identical to the ACADEMIC section.  The only major difference between Academic IELTS and GENERAL IELTS is the writing section task one. In General IELTS, you do not have graphs, but you need to demonstrate your ability in writing a formal letter to a company, corporation, institution, or a friend. Nonetheless, the hard work required for all section is almost same as the academic IELTS.
